Opening Testrun Meme

Before the game actually opens, lets all take a moment to-Hold up, need some kind of goofy picture.

Before the game actually opens, lets all take a moment to try out some characters that we think would work well here. Test the waters, declare who you're interested in, have fun, invite your friends. Tell them we brought punch and pie.

The Prompts!
1. Arrival - One minute, you were doing your own thing back home, the next, you were sucked through a glowing portal. Suddenly, you find yourself in a random stretch of road, surrounded by screaming and the sounds of gunfire and explosions. All around you are other confused and disoriented people. Beyond them, a haze of smoke, through which hulking...things slouch about, writhing with tentacles.

You've just taken part in a mass emergence event. They tend to be accompanied by the appearance of horrible things from between worlds. They're hungry, but Aegis has sent some of their best agents to help you out. Flee to safety, then try to figure out just what the HELL is going on.

2. Emergence - This was a lucky one. You actually got a full two hours of warning before the emergence event took place. Anyone who was around and could fight or help was gathered up, thrown through a hasty briefing, then shoved into transport helicopters to try get to a stretch of cornfields somewhere in Kansas before it exploded into a mess of confused and lost people and Astral Beasts.

Right now, everyone's still on the helicopter. Got any last minute thoughts to get off your chest before everything goes crazy?

3. Vigilance - Welcome to your new home. Vigilance is a medium sized city on the east coast of the United States. It's host to a number of things to see and do, but most notably, it is the secret headquarters of the Aegis Initiative. After the absolute chaos of your arrival, you have some down time to get your head together. Take a look around town, have some fun. They've got mini golf.

4. Quarantine - Sometimes, things go wrong. Sometimes, the general public blames it on sliders like you. Sometimes, for your own safety, you have to stay inside. There's always things to do in the base, but most of it is things like "Clean the bathroom" or "Finish these reports" and that can only keep you busy for so long before you start strangling people.

So what does a slider do when suffering from cabin fever in a military compound?

5. Celebration - Nothing like near death experiences to make you appreciate life all the more. You thoroughly trashed some aliens yesterday, and now it's time to celebrate the fact that no one was disintegrated. The mess hall has been hastily converted into a dance hall by way of shoving the tables out of the way and putting on some loud music. The kitchen staff was recruited to feed everyone, and someone MAY have spiked the punch. Someone may have also spiked the pie.

6. Wild Card - Or of course, you can come up with something else altogether. The world of Aegis is a big one. The same size as our own world, in fact. There's bound to be things you can think of that we didn't cover here.

[The last time you went to stop some of these PARTICULAR kind of aliens, you barely made it back with your lives. Which is why Dr. Vahlen looks slightly nervous about what she's about to suggest.

None the less, here she is.]

[It's your day off, and you're in the park. Coincidentally, Lockon is, too. He's perched on a bench right on the path, smoking a cigarette. He waves when he sees you.]

[Leona has been under quarantine for two weeks. She has borne the brunt of this indignity without complaint, but her demeanor has definitely gotten considerably frostier as time has progressed. Today she is sweeping purposefully through the base, toward of all places the kitchen. Dare you approach?]

[Whether you're the concerned citizen type, interested in playing hero, or just morbidly curious depsite a strong desire not to get involved, you are somehow drawn to the sound of what must be a MASSIVE nighttime brawl going on in a vacant lot off the main street. You'd think a town like this would be low on gang violence, right?

The fight seems to be wrapping up by the time you get there. And on closer inspection, it seems like there's just the one gang, of which about a dozen members now lay strewn groaning across the lot. Oh Christ, it's this guy. Don't make eye contact.

He casually chucks his second-to-last opponent over his shoulder, slamming the poor guy's spine against a brick wall to land in a dumpster. The last one is backing slowly out of the alley, looking like this is seriously not his day. Ryoma turns to address him, but at least he's not bothering to give chase.]

Oi, at least make me warm up! Even the yakuza trash back home had more balls than you guys. I'm bored again already.

[Long story short, Ryoma doesn't notice you until everyone has either run or hobbled away. There's not much indication they were actually doing anything wrong until he provoked them.]

Tch. There's nothing worth doing around here between Emergences, is there.

[Just inside the Aegis base, a bustling middle-aged woman flashes a badge of some sort in your face before moving in for a handshake.]

I don't believe I've seen your face before; it's a great pleasure to have you working with us.

Walk with me, please.

[Usually when stuff goes wrong, it is Vi's fault, somehow. She's never been too keen on the whole 'thinking things through' thing. That was usually left up to her partner, not that Vi listened all that much to her.

Unfortunately, her partner is not here, and no one here has quite gotten the hang of how to keep Vi on a leash during operations. So they're keeping her off of them for now, which is making her stir-crazy. No Caitlyn or Jayce to pester, no being summoned to take part in a League match, no kooky Yordles doing crazy stuff that could be encouraged.

Vi can be found in one of the common areas, either doing maintenance on her gauntlets with tools that likely belong to one of the tech departments, or punching her frustrations out on a makeshift punching bag - which likely consists of cushions that were "borrowed" from a few chairs.]

[It is 0500 hours and you are asleep in the barracks. Or at least you were until the sound of a trumpet fanfare jolted you awake]

ALL RIGHT YOU DAMN PUKES UP AND AT 'EM THE DAY IS YOUNG AND WE'VE GOT SHIT TO DO!

[Normally, weird crap going down accompanied by freaky monsters is the bread and butter of Lina's adventures. However, that's because normally she has the capability to deal with them.

Several attempts to cast a wide variety of spells from her repertoire have turned up naught but fizzles, and thus has instilled a rather unusual bit of panic in Lina. Thankfully, she has quite the amount of experience in running away from dangerous things, so that's what's going on at the moment - she's also hoping that she doesn't need to get off the ground any time soon. No magic means no flight, and those things look big and nasty enough that a piddling dagger isn't gonna stand much of a chance.]

[If this slider's name is Ky Kiske? He prays. Ky has been spending more time than usual down at the base chapel lately. At the moment, he's walking out of it, a rosary wrapped around his right hand.

Where's he going now?]

Victory, celebration! Hayato's definitely among the party-goers!

Oh wait, no he isn't. While most people celebrate being alive for another week, Hayato is deep in the bowels of Aegis. Specifically: in the research archives where most people aren't allowed to go. He's downloading gigabytes of information about other sliders onto his laptop. Information about YOU.

You might be pretty sneaky, but apparently not sneaky enough, when you got close enough, Hayato said "Isn't this area supposed to be off limits? What are YOU doing here?" Without looking up from his task.

Hey! Looks like ya ain't much up for dancin' either, come on, pull up a seat. I'm itchin' for a bit of low-rent excitement.

[With a flick of her wrist, the elf pulls out a deck of cards, shuffling them as she speaks]
